Contract CAD Services has been selected to assist with Neil Young’s LincVolt Project

PRLog (Press Release)– May 16, 2011– Contract CAD Services LLC (CCS), a mechanical design firm located in Novi Michigan, has been selected to provide world famous musician Neil Young and his team with CAD drawings and 3d renderings for the 1959 LincVolt project, the conversion of a 1959 Lincoln Continental to clean battery-powered technology.  From Patrick Kennedy, President of contract CAD Services:  "We are proud and excited to have been chosen as part of this revolutionary project. All of us here at Contract CAD Services have extensive automotive design experience. We are 'car guys', who love classic cars but realize the paramount importance of evolving from fossil-fueled vehicles to a greener alternative. This project is a fantastic concept:  merging the best of classic Detroit design and new green technology.  We look forward to solving the unique challenges it will present."

From the http://www.lincvolt.com website:  "…We want to build a zero emissions automobile that eliminates roadside re-fueling entirely, a safe powerful automobile that is comfortable and economic on both long trips and the commute to work…By working with established technologies in new ways, with the best people and companies available in each field, and creating a film about the innovative re-powering of a 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible and its trip around the USA, we aim to publicize our story of innovation to make a m aston martin ajor difference in the knowledge of, creation, and use of clean power in the 21st Century…"

Neil Young and the 59 Design Team contracted CCS to take careful measurements of the 1959 LincVolt structure.  The team had instructed CCS to recre cadillac ate 3D renderings of certain features of the LincVolt in Catia V5 for packaging key components and the A123 battery packs. Catia V5 is the most powerful CAD system on today's market, and is used to create style surfaces and style lines in 3D image renderings  of the highest quality. CCS flew one of its lead designers, Kim Jackson, out to Sacramento, California to meet with Camilleri's Auto Works, who are assisting in the fabrication and metal modifications to the 1959 Lincoln.  Camilleri's Auto Works, founded in 1998, specializes in "…high quality bodywork, paint, fabrication and design on hot rods, muscle cars, classics, motorcycles and specialty vehicles of all kinds…".

When Kim Jackson arrived at the Sacramento site he was given a brief history of the 59 project car, then got to workt taking measurements, sketching and snapping photographs. Day two of Kim's visit started off with a conference call from Paul Perrone of Perrone Robotics in Virginia. He made sure areas of conc dodge ern were addressed:  the rear floor pan, center floor pan, center floor extension, front floor pan, dash panel, and engine area including acura rear front and outer cross member reinforcements.

Contract CAD Services has been involved in other green projects as well: they partnered with Clean Fuel USA to design and engineer retrofitted Liquified Propane Injection (LPI) systems to power trucks and vans. Propane is 90% domestically produced, and provides an ideal balance of performance, fuel economy, and reduced emissions. CCS has also worked with Ramsond Corporation to help develop a wind turbine and solar 1086274749  panel system to power street lights.
